Community Support & Resources

Pediatrics in Brevard Statement of Community Support and Resource List

Dear Pediatrics in Brevard Patient Families,

During these times of uncertainty, there is a movement around the world against racial injustice.  We at Pediatrics In Brevard are a family of people who take serving our community as a privilege.  Each individual is seen as a human being who deserves respect in the manner of care, no matter their race, ethnicity, occupation or beliefs.  Our commitment is to provide optimal physical, social and mental health care to infants, children, teenagers and young adults.  We see our patients and patient families as our community.

As we are grateful and applaud the men and women in uniform who lay their lives on the line each day to defend and protect, we also stand solidly with all those who condemn inequality of justice.  We want you to know we hold true to our values of integrity, compassion, respect and excellence.  We stand with our community.  We stand with those having the dialogue and asking the hard questions.  We stand with those calling awareness to discrimination and those taking the necessary steps toward a fair and equal society.

In light of recent events in our nation, children may be fearful about their safety.  They may question what the protests mean or why people have been harmed by those sworn to protect and serve. Every child should expect equal treatment from others and we need to use this as an opportunity to teach and model the correct attitude toward persons of any background.  We are honored with the opportunity to work with parents for the well-being of each precious young life.  We have prepared a list of helpful resources for various age groups in teaching children how to respect others and to understand the harmful effects of racism.
